leadership development & culture/blse

As usual, I'm always excited when I get to attend technical trainings. But what I realized from the past 2 days of training is that I was really "present" throughout! It really felt good to feel present; as if I was in flow.

I absolutely love the topics of the training this time around. It's because both these topics are something I can truly relate to. Leadership Development - ha! It was what I did for the past few years, in a few countries with friends from different countries. And I miss those times so much. I am thankful for all those great experiences - it was those which has shaped me to who I am today ;)

Culture - ha! It's something I've had much conversations on. It's amazing to know that there is a methodology and tools to assess and sustain culture. I think culture is all about emotion ... it’s all about perception and it’s all about what people see and what people feel... and it’s very hard to measure that! But somehow when you are shared with tools for culture review exercises & shaping the culture you want, it seems that it becomes a bit more easier - coming from someone who appreciates structures ;)

The highlight of the training was a debate on "Leadership is the chicken and Culture is the egg". I loved it loads! There has always been discussion about how these 2 areas relate but never on which came first. Does it matter which came first? Anyway, I've been always a firm believer that leadership shapes culture. It's a hypothesis I came out with and have tested it for some years - again and again it has been proven to be true!

Day 2 was focused on BLSE (Behaviour Led Strategy Execution). I've read quite some books on developing strategies, and deciding on one is not as challenging as executing it! Execution has always been a challenge. Recently, I flip through the Execution Premium, and read that one of the areas we should look into is culture. However, it doesn't really explain much on the how. BLSE has the answer!!!

There are 2 articles which are available to the public:-
1. Executing your strategy more successfully [link]
2. On best behaviour - Sound advice on strategy execution [link]

Though the idea behind BLSE is not something totally new to me, but having a methodology is just way cool to make things happen in a structured way! I love it! I'm definetely attending the webinar to find out more. The training was just perfect - though the one on Talent Management was the peak, but this is way better! Looking forward to future trainings especially on Diversity & Inclusion and Fast Track ;)
