reality tv
Reality TV - many people are watching it today! My 1st reality show was Survivor Borneo, and from then on - I just got hooked watching season after season ;) I find it somewhat entertaining. Shows such as The Amazing Race, The Apprentice and Fear Factor then came - and I sometimes watch them as well.
Recently, I've found out about The Firm - our Malaysian version of The Apprentice. I never got around watching it on Saturday nights; but have been watching it online instead. I never thought that I would actually spend time watching it online! Well, guess that more organizations should start utilizing the Internet to cater for Gen Y ;) I'm guessing that there will be more TV shows online pretty soon!!!
Watching quite some reality TV has proved that the industry is making $ by focusing on the not so good side of human behaviour. Back stabbing is a commonly used word in these shows! Why not focus on the positive side of things? I'm guessing that viewers are more interested to watch the not so good side vs the positive side of things! There is so much footage; and the editors decide to pick those which are of "violent" in nature and amplify it. There are lot of "good" in people :) Only if a reality TV show would take the bold step in focusing on the positive side of things - the day would come!
Sometimes, it strikes me to want to actually sign up for a reality TV show. But then again, would the pros be balanced with the cons? My main concern is my image protrayed on TV. The producers would decide on your role - whether you're the bitchy one, the dumb blonde, the strategiest, the NATO etc. Would I want to risk in getting few minutes of fame on national TV and possibly labeled unjustly. I'm very sure that there is an amount of goodness in people even those who you consider as the villians of reality TV; they have their families & friends who love and care for them. But it's just to make it more interesting that they would need to label their contestants in a certain way to gain traffic to their network! Signing up and getting selected would definetely be an exceptional experience - but would reality TV be something I'll enjoy; that I'll never know till I've tried it.
To sign up or not - that still remains a ?

I seriously doubt that the producers actually decide on their roles.
Just that they only show you at your most negative moments. Like a blonde who acts klutzy for 20 minutes in the entire day, then the producers will only show that 20 minutes of her.
