DISC vs MBTI

For the past 2 days, attended the DISC training by Thomas International. It was a really good one! Learned loads... Yup, and found out that I'm a CS profile. And surprisingly that my work mask & self image is pretty much the same - which means that I'm not masking myself at work, am very comfortable with myself and my work environment.

And finally learned how to read the DISC graph as a whole and make logical conclusions about it. It's just interesting when you can make conclusions of a person's behaviour by only reading the graphs ;) Well, if I'm to be a pro at it - would need to constantly read graphs, interpret them & get my colleagues to verify my interpretations. Practice makes perfect!

Also did some googling on my own time about the differences between DISC & MBTI. And what I found out is that MBTI is more of a personality assessment while DISC is on "how" you react to your environment profile. DISC was developed for the workplace - which means that it is used for recruitment, leadership development, succession planning, managing people etc. While MBTI is more on just understanding your own self. Read more from this article which I found ;)

Hi I too have gone for DiSC Profile workshop with Hann Consulting. I was recently ask to share if there is any drawbacks in using this tool in the workplace, especially for recruitment purposes. I am a high DI flick up C. Hmmm... the one drawback that I can think of is the force questionning method used... and the fact that you tend to pick answers that you believe you are... which may not necessary be your true self. Would like to have your input in this. noealanthony81@gmail.com

Force questioning method? Not too sure about that method. You learned that in the workshop?

What I learned was how to plot a HJA (Human Job Analysis) graph and use that for recruitment purposes - to identify what the ideal profile be liked, and to match with all the available candidates.
