difference or diversity?

It seems that for the time I've been in my internship and that I've been pro actively being involved in my hosting LC. Many things seems really different. Not tooo sure what the reason is...

And it goes that many things of AIESEC Hong Kong is run in a very similar ways on how I remember we run AIESEC Malaysia. But still there are some differences...

Are these differences acceptable? Or is it part of the culture here where AIESEC has been adapted to the local environment and that it is constantly being shaped by the external environment? Still am figuring that out till today... If you were to accept the differences; then it would be accepting diversity & seeing the value of it. But what about some differences which doesn't make sense at all - and sometimes is a cultural shock!!!

I'm not saying that I do not value diversity - I do, trust me! Even during my internship when I was working with 3 other interns (from Germany, Mainlan China & Netherlands) - it was just superb how we complement each other and that I learned from them. But taking a step behind and being part of 2 LCs Elections General Meeting; I am just shocked by how it is run and that the behaviours of alumni are accepted.

Elections in AIESEC are always the most inspiring moments. Why? Beacause that is the moment where you see the birth of new leadership. It has always been an event which I always look forward to. However, when I was at the LC elections here, I was shocked by the way the alumni who were constantly raising their voices and some even throwing stuffs around the room. They can just crush you till you're barely alive. I really can't accept differences like this because it's just not the AIESEC which I know. I really wish and pray that this sort of culture would change.

Am happy that Bonida (CUHK LCP, MC elect) decided to change some of it namely having elections for about 6 hours (no extension of time allowed) instead of over 24 hours. It's crazy to have elections for more than a whole day!!! And that there will be no "comments" section where it is usually used by alumni to shout at you and remind you how not capable you are in running for EB. Yeah, no more nonsense from them anymore this time. And no more time wasted reading "welcoming motions" for everyone who arrive in the middle of the EGM.

thought of the day is "difference or diversity"
